Alresford Deliver Dominant Bonus Point Win at Farnham in Tough Conditions

8th December 2025

Farnham 3’s 5 – Alresford 29 [22nd November 2025]

Alresford travelled to Farnham on a wet, cold, windy November afternoon to take on Farnham 3’s.

Alresford kicked off the first half and it quickly became apparent that the conditions, a muddy pitch and a wet ball were not going to be conducive to an attractive passing game !!

But it was the away team who were making the best of the conditions, and a powerful forwards performance was rewarded with the first try of the afternoon. Duly converted, the score was 0-7 to Alresford.

The remainder of the half was an attritional battle, in which Alresford continually pressed, but could not break through. However, a rare period of home team dominance resulted in their first try. Unconverted, the score at halftime was;

Farnham 3’s 5 – Alresford 7.

The home team kicked off the second half keen to maintain their momentum, but to no avail, as an increasingly confident Alresford put in a composed team performance and did not allow another score against them.

Instead, it was the away team who were rewarded for their endeavours with four second half tries. Although the worsening conditions meant that goal kicking was a challenge, we continued to tick the scoreboard over, and the fourth bonus point try summed up our dominance on the day.

The referee blew the whistle and an exultant club could celebrate a final score of;

Farnham 3’s 5 – Alresford 29.

Given the atrocious conditions, and the fact that several players from the 2’s were called into action, this was a superb performance across the board. The scrummaging was strong and punched the home pack on numerous occasions, the forward found holes and gained ground all afternoon, and the backs took advantage of every opportunity and reaped the rewards. The players should be rightfully proud of what they achieved today, and we can use the confidence and optimism to take forward into our remaining fixtures this year.

Our thanks to Farnham 3’s for the match, our best wishes for the rest of the season and we look forward to the return fixture in February.
